Awilda Quinones

Awilda Quinones, age 65, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 15, 2021. She was a kind hearted soul and beloved mother. She had two daughters and one son; she loved all of them dearly. She was full of joy and devoted to her children and work. Even after working 40 hours, she maintained a spotless household. Regardless of how stressful or busy life could be, she always made time for her family, whether it was going out to eat or just shopping at the mall. She always made sure birthdays were never forgotten and celebrated even if it was just with a cake. She enjoyed dressing up in her vibrant clothes, jewelry and her designer perfume even if it was just with loved ones. As a beautiful and independent single mom, she did everything to make sure her kids never went without and always provided the best resources available. She was always in good spirits and would put her kids needs before her own. After suffering a stroke and being in a nursing home for 10 years, she always found a way to maintain a positive attitude and grant us the most amazing smile in the world. She was a fighter all the way until the end. She will definitely be missed by her family and friends forever! She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Emma Buron; sister, Janet Odelin; stepfather, Luis Antonio Quinones. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Zeniada Quinones; children, Denise and Michelle Ramos, Florencio and Mary Chavez, Vanessa and Ken Buron; grandchildren, Elliott, Eugene, Flora, and Santos Maverick and Maximillion; brothers, Antonio and Amy Quinones, Raul Quinones; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021, 11 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Burial Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home and from 10-11am on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Chad Tough Defeat DIPG Foundation or the Autism Centers of Michigan.
