Augustin Cotto Rivera

Augustin “Augie” Cotto Rivera age 74, from Lansing, Michigan, originally from Defiance, OH., passed away surrounded by family on April 29, 2025. Augustin was preceded in death by his fiancé Mary “Diane” Zamora; parents, Antonio Carrillo Cotto and Maria Luisa Rivera Morales; brothers, Juan Antonio “John” Carrillo Rivera, Rowel “Danny” Cotto Rivera; son, Augustine Cotto Rivera Jr.; daughter, Margarita “Marti” Rivera Johanson; grandchildren, Marisela M. Bonilla and Lametrius Middlebrooks.  Augustin is survived by his daughters, Lorinda “Lori” (Demetrius) Middlebrooks of Toledo, OH; Luisa Ann Green of Mount Pleasant, MI.; Taylor (Vern) Cotto of Flint, MI.; sons, Tito Valle Rivera of Columbus, OH.; Augustine James “AJ” of Lansing, MI. He also leaves 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; brother, David (Laurie) Cotto of Wyoming, MI.; sisters, Luzmaria “Lucy” (Myron) Bok of Defiance, OH.; Margarita “Marti” Cotto Hernandez of Grand Rapids, MI.; Senaida “Cindy”  (Lionel) Perez of Cleveland OH.; Rebecca “Becky” (Mark) Cotto Bergmann of Cincinnati, OH.; sister-in-law, Tina Rivera of San Antonio, TX.; and dear family friend Jennifer Adams. A special thanks to Sue Cotto Wilson.  Augustin served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He loved his traditional Puerto Rican food, fond of Mexican music and dancing. Augie was a loyal and good friend and remained in contact with his childhood buddies from Defiance, Ohio.  A private family memorial will be held on July 26th in Defiance, OH.
