Remembering Aspen JoAnna Stanton

Aspen JoAnna Stanton, age 14 of Cedar Springs, was called home to Heaven on February 13, 2026. Aspen was a ray of sunshine with a joyful, bright spirit who brought happiness wherever she went. She loved being outdoors, especially gardening. Aspen had a heart for helping others and found immense joy in playing the violin and spending time on the pickleball court.

Aspen made friends everywhere she went, connecting easily with people from all walks of life. Her kindness, laughter, and radiant smile left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. As the sun rises each morning, we will be reminded that she is watching over us, her light forever shining in our hearts.

She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Christina J. Ware-Stanton; her father, Eric M. Stanton; her sister, Sage W. Stanton; her great-grandparent, Nancy J. Kapaldo; her grandparents, Scott and Debra Ware; her uncle and aunt, Scott and Suzette Ware; her uncle, Randy Sullivan; her uncle, Terry Stanton; and her aunt, Linda Malloy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 7 at Rockford Baptist Church, 221 Courtland Street, Rockford, Michigan with Rev. Justin Rowland, officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday at 10:15 am at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Rockford Baptist Church

I am so sorry to hear about Aspen. I got to know her, her sister, mother, and grandparents a little bit as I would walk our dogs by their home in Rockford. Aspen was always so excited to come out and say hi to Indy, Tinka, and eventually Winnie. She radiated joy. I honestly don't think I ever even knew her name, but just saw her photo today in the Squire. My heart breaks for you all. Please know that I am praying for you.

We had the privilege of you living close by for awhile and always playing with our kiddos. My kids love Aspen and always looked forward to being around her. We will cherish the friendship, and remember her always. She was a wonderful person and always looked out for all the kids, making sure everyone was included no matter how young they were. Thank you for sharing your beautiful light with everyone.

I am privileged to have Aspen as my friend and will always cherish our discussions about gardening, music, and just normal things that happen in our every day lives. Aspen was an inspiration to both young and old and demonstrated how each of us should treat family, friends, and strangers with dignity and respect. She always had a smile and a kind word for those who needed one. You will be greatly missed, but remembered forever in our memories of out time together.

I'm so sorry about Aspen. I found a scripture on JW.org that I like to share, Acts 24:15, "there is going to be a resurrection", I wish your family the very best for the future.
