Antoinette Wassen, age 69, of Grand Rapids, joined her loving husband, John, in Heaven on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Genevieve and William Wingate, and her brother-in-law, Denny DeHaan (Big D). She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Carolyn Dorsey; sister, Linda DeHaan; many nieces, nephews and cousins, including John and Shelly Stuba, her special caregivers for many years. She will be missed by her special friends, Sandy and Herb Benedict, Ellie Pinchak, and Sandy Story. A special thank you to The Med Team and The Med Team Hospice, whose kindness and loving care is beyond measure. Toni loved living at American House - Grand Rapids; thank you to all the staff and residents there. We also want to thank Toni’s community of physicians and staff: Dr. David Albrecht, Christina Haan PA-C, Dr. Daniel Legault, Dr. Eric Walchak, Dr. Yosef Gindzin, Dr. David May, and Dr. Jennifer Winegarden.  A memorial service for Toni will be held on Saturday, July 7 at 11:00 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Chaplain Dann Youle officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 10-11 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
