Anthony “Tony” Rinvelt

On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, our kind-hearted, humorous, and (more often than not) smart aleck son, brother, uncle, and friend, Staff Sergeant Anthony “Tony” Edward Rinvelt, age 26, went to be with the Lord.

Anthony joins his dad, Randy Rysdyk; grandpa, John Vredenburg; grandmas, Marilyn-Jane Vredenburg, Betty Rinvelt, and Barb Metcalf; and many others who went before him to watch over his family as they walk through this life without his earthly presence.

Tony (or “bud” to his family) is survived by his mother and father, Rebecca and Brad Carr; dad and step-mom, Randal and Shirley Rinvelt; sisters, Arianna Rinvelt, Amanda Rinvelt, and Ashley and Joe Pindar; half-brother, David and Jen Rinvelt; step-brothers, Billy and Meg Carr and Rick and Mary Carr; and best friends, Aaron and Alli Ploughman, and Russell Brown. He left this world with thirteen nieces and nephews and countless cousins, aunts, and uncles who adored him.

Anthony’s family has peace in knowing that their Soldier has found rest in his heavenly Father. Although they said goodbye to him here on earth, his family knows they will see him again one day when they too are called home.

A memorial service will be held for him on behalf of the 6th Brigade Engineer Battalion on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in Anchorage, Alaska. Sergeant First Class Arturo Vasquez will be accompanying Anthony’s body home to Michigan.

An additional memorial service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Craig Gurr officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Stop Soldier Suicide.

His family asks for peace and privacy during this trying time.
