Anthony A. “Tony” Hinojosa, age 43, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 and is now home in the presence of his Lord and Savior after a 17 month valiant battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Domingo and Dorina Hinojosa, Shirley Walker; his aunt, Linda Hinojosa; his uncle, Domingo Hinojosa Jr.; and his father-in-law, Dan A. Nitz. Tony was a loving husband, dad, son, and brother. He passionately loved Jesus, his family, and friends. Tony served selflessly in many ways and was the founder of MXG, Men Xperiencing God ministry at Madison Square Church. He loved his sports, always cheering on the MSU Spartans. Every Saturday you could always hear “Go Green, Go White, Go State!” He also had a love for disc golf, playing with friends and on the Flat River Disc Golf Association. He was a Sales Rep. for Valorous Circle, making many connections and establishing relationships during his time there. Everyone who knows him has been blessed by his willingness to share his testimony to the power of God’s saving grace. God changed him and he changed the world. Sue was his perfect partner in life. Brendan was his greatest accomplishment. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sue (Nitz); his son, Brendan; his parents; Tony and Brenda Hinojosa; his sister, Jamie (Hinojosa) and Toben Heim; his grandfather, Ralph Walker; his parents in-law, Glenda and Ken Van Doeselaar; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Kristen Nitz, Brian and Kerri Nitz; several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Madison Square Church, 1441 Madison SE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Brad Knetsch and Pastor Jason Botbyl officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville, and also from 9 - 9:45 prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be given to Brendan’s Christian Education Fund or to Gilda’s Club.
