Anthon “Bud” Hemmes, age 91, of Grandville, was reunited with his wife in glory on their 69th wedding anniversary, Sunday, August 20, 2017. He was a wonderful father and beloved grandfather. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was preceded death by his wife, Henrietta; grandchildren, Faith Lynn Agema and Tyler Anthon Hemmes. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Barb and Dave Agema, Bob and Lori Hemmes, Bonnie and Tim Sikkema and Brad and Jill Hemmes; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Norma Schutte, Gerald and Marcia Schutte, Betty and Carl Hofstra and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Rev. Casey Freswick officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Mission India or The Potter’s House Christian School.
