Anita Merle Kiel Snodgrass

Anita Merle Kiel Snodgrass, age 100, of Grandville passed away at the Christian Rest Home in Grand Rapids on Friday, February 9, 2018. She was born February 4, 1918, in Jamestown, MI. Anita was the last surviving child of Siebo and Mennie Kiel. From the age of fourteen, she worked in a variety of positions throughout her life and retired from her job as a baker for Grandville Public Schools. She was an excellent and loving homemaker, cook, and baker and was known for her delicious pies. Her family, even the most extended, meant the world to her and she loved them without question. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Howard; infant daughter, Janice Kay; ten siblings and two half siblings. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marti (Gregory) Duryea; grandchildren, Andrew (Gabriela) Duryea and Jeanne Duryea; great grandchildren, Laura and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at Christian Rest Home for the love and care given to her these past seven years. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW. Interment Forest Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family 2:00-2:45 Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Christian Rest Home Foundation.
