Remembering Andrew Kachel

Andrew Phillip Kachel, age 54, of Grandville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Andrew grew up in Flint and attended Powers Catholic High School. He left a great impression on the friends he had and the people he would meet. Andrew was well loved and always made time for the people he loved. A favorite evening for Andrew would be eating a turtle sundae and watching Notre Dame football. Sundays were for the Lord and also card games with friends. He will be truly missed. Andrew was preceded in death by his father, Charles Kachel; and his brother, Christopher Kachel. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Abby and Allison Kachel; mother of his children, Bethany Kachel; his mother, Susan Kachel; sister, Ann Daley; and brother, Alan Kachel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Fr. Phong Pham officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids.

Even with all the years that have passed I have always thought of the “Kachel Boys” especially Andy and he’d bring a smile to my face from our time at Holy Redemeer. Please know the entire Kachel family are in our thoughts, prayers and hearts. May Andy have peace , joy & a nice pair of sharp skates up there. Love The Buckners.

My family was so sorry to hear of Andy’s (or rather Dink, as we called him) passing. He was a main figure and friend from Holy Redeemer. We always loved him and his sunny disposition! We pray for Mrs. Kachel and Al. The Wurtz Family

Andy didn't say much, he was always quiet, but I did give him a ride to work for a week when his car was getting fixed, we talked more then and I got to know him a little better. He was a nice guy, always gave me a friendly greeting, he called me Bud 😊 Andy was a friend and he will be missed.
