Alvina Huyser

Alvina Huyser, age 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 27, 2025. She was born on May 28, 1928, in Pella, Iowa to Dick and Sophia Sjaardema. She graduated from Pella Christian High School. Alvina married William (Bill) Huyser on June 3, 1949, and they were blessed with 72 years of marriage until Bill went to be with his Lord in 2022. They moved from Pella, IA to Grand Rapids, MI so Bill could complete his education at Calvin College and Seminary. Alvina encouraged and supported Bill as they ministered to five Christian Reformed churches over a span of 70 years. She enjoyed music and loved singing in choirs, frequently singing solos. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought such joy to her life. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mark and Sally Huyser, Tom and Paula Huyser, Dave and Betsy Huyser, Steve Huyser and Linda, Rick and Faith Huyser; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Dorothy Huyser, Wilma Huyser, Ruth Huyser; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Alvina was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, James Huyser, Frank Huyser, and Ed and Elizabeth Memmelaar. 

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4375 Ivanrest Ave. SW, Grandville, MI 49418 with Pastor Barb Sanders and Pastor Randy Ledeboer officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10-10:45 am on Tuesday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Kalamazoo Valley Gleaners (kalamazoogleaners.org) or Fellowship CRC.
