Alvin Groendyk

Alvin Harold Groendyk, age 91, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Alvin was a resident at the Holland Home and was loved and will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Caryn and Jim Boelema, Craig and Ruth Groendyk, Beth and Steve Sweers, Brian and Kate Groendyk; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jayme and Steve Golson (Breonna, Cayla, Zach, Lexi), Matt and Jennie Boelema (Bronson, Carter), Scott and Katie Boelema (Hazel), Betsy Groendyk, Michael and Rebecca Groendyk (Ryken), Jeff and Allyssa Sweers (Zoe, Milo), Kevin and Meghan Sweers, Annie Sweers, Susie and Gar Hoover, Carly Groendyk; a special friend, Joyce Moored; sister-in-law, Joyce and Allan Jongsma; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, at 1 p.m. at First Reformed Church of Grandville, 3060 Wilson Ave., Grandville, with Pastor Matt Cook officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from noon-12:45 p.m. at church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Holland Home Foundation.
