Alphonsus Kelly

Kelly – Alphonsus E. Kelly aged 91 of Grand Rapids passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020. 

'Kelly' as he was known to most who knew him. Loved singing and playing Guitar to all who would take the time to listen. After coming into this World in 1929 in Brooklyn, NY. The family moved back to Newfoundland. Where he grew into a young man. Moving to Michigan in his early 20's and finding love, a family and full time employment at General Motors on 36th Street until retirement in his mid 60's. Kelly embraced life to the fullest, always the last off the dance floor. Other than family his true love was his beloved home of Newfoundland. He rarely missed a year returning to the land, Sea and family he so loved. His smile, warmth and gentle nature will surely be missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He was preceded by his wife, Beverly Kelly in 2017.

Alphonsus is survived by his children, Rick Kelly, John Kelly, Tammy Kelly; stepchildren, Mike Shepard, Sue Shepard, Cindy Shepard; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Veronica Powers, Placentia Bay, Mt. Arlington Heights, Newfoundland.

Memorial service will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel – Wyoming, 3131 S.
