Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Chances are, if you live in West Michigan, you might own something creative such as a stone ladybug, a white picket fence with a sunflower on it, or even a beautifully hand-crafted greeting card from our family’s matriarch, who went to her eternal resting place on June 2, 2024. Alice was a God-fearing, wonderful, creative, kind soul of a woman, sister, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a best friend to many. Her great passion in life was to serve others and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene McCune; her brother, Harold Zeutenhorst; her parents, Herman and Henrietta; along with all of her aunts and uncles, and one great-granddaughter. Alice is survived by her children: Harold Douglas McCune (Sandra), Lori Sue Aukeman (Thomas), Sara Jane Broderick (Patrick), Amy Jo Kowalski (Javier), and Tina Louise Munoz (Carlos); her grandchildren: Bambi Lynn Hollingsworth (Robinson), Terry Lee Neymeiyer Jr., Nina Elaine DeGroot (Eric), Lisa Renee Vande Ree (Jaime), Jordon Renee Herrmann, Matthew Douglas McCune, Lauren Elizabeth Munoz (Ryan), Bryan Scott Herrmann, Bridget Elaine Munoz, Rita Lynn NyKamp (Caleb),and Allison Emily Munoz; and twelve great grandchildren.
Alice was full of life, always enjoyed a new adventure, was everyone’s friend and confidant, and cared for everyone in her family. Some of her favorite treats were a good Starbucks coffee with extra whipped cream, a super messy Ultradog from Yesterdog, or a visit to the Sugar Bowl in Scottsdale, AZ, when she was in town. She lived a very full life and all of us are much better people for having been friends and family with her. One of her greatest loves in life was also her beloved church, Woodhaven Reformed Church in Byron Center, where she was a charter founding member. There she sang in the choir, volunteered on numerous committees, and prayed frequently with many congregation members. In the end, one could say that Alice lived her life by being an example to others. She will be greatly missed and leave a vacancy in our hearts that can never be filled. May she rest in eternal peace and may we all be reunited with her someday.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Woodhaven Reformed Church, 3959 68th St. SW, Byron Center, with Rev. Jon Alexanian officiating.
