Alice Louise Gill

Alice Louise Gill passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025 in Grand Rapids, MI, at the age of 97, surrounded by her remaining children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Born January 22, 1928 in Addison, MI to Earl Franklin Wright and Ida Grace Fryman.  Alice and her five siblings stayed close throughout life and family was her truest treasure. She raised five kids while moving frequently, establishing close-knit communities wherever they made a new home.  After operating home beauty salons for many years, she became an award-winning realtor and spent most of her adult life in Gaylord, MI. In retirement, she wintered in Alabama and eventually settled in Grand Rapids near her kids and their families. She had myriad interests: sewing, throwing tea parties and baking the BEST cookies.  Alice also enjoyed solving puzzles, and beating everyone in Dominoes, playing Bridge and other card games. For everyone lucky enough to know her, Alice always felt like home. Wherever she was, there was warmth, delicious food, and lots of belly laughs. As her beloved sister, Dorothy once said, “Alice knew how to take care of herself, and her family, and everyone else she met.”  She leaves a legacy of resilience and joy in the face of adversity. Alice is preceded in death by her children, Pam (Dennis) Duffey and Terry Gill; grandchild, Kirsten Heacock; and siblings, Anna (Don) Stalker, Fred (Ruth) Wright, Ernest (Bonnie) Wright and Rachel (Eddie) Girardot.  She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Gordon) Eno; her  children, Cathy (Bob) Brown, Brenda (Steve) Heacock, Cindy (Kris) Pushman; her grandchildren, Scott (Janelle) Duffey, Melissa (Andy) Friedman, Sarah (Robb) Zimmerman, Rebecca (Blake) Kooi, Allison (Orrie) Close, Erica (Mike) Spalding, Grace (Victor) Joaquin; and her great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Caitlynn, Elsa, Henry, Wolfe, Waverly, Willem, Quinten, Fritz, Lily, Owen, and Vada; and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, August 30 at Holland Home 2565 44th Street SE Kentwood, with Rev. Les Wiseman officiating .  Burial will be held at Danby Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday one hour prior to the service at Holland Home 2565 44th Street SE, Kentwood.
