Alberta Hoekwater

Alberta “Bert” Hoekwater, age 88, of Jenison, joyfully entered her eternal home with God on November 1, 2023. She joined her husband of 43 years, Hap, who preceded her in death, along with her granddaughter, Annie Renee Hoekwater; great-grandson, Reuben Rafa William Hoekwater; and her brothers, Tom, and Jim Sjoerdsma. She is dearly loved and tenderly remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, John and Ruth Hoekwater - Sarah and Rehman (Elan, Soren), Josh and Stacey, (Koen, Inez), Annie; Sharon and Jim VanTil - Melissa and Bill (Lydia, Layne, Mikayla, Madelyn), Julie and Tony, (Emma, Case, Zac, Gabrielle); Dale and Deb Hoekwater - Abbey and Jacob, (Mack, Saylor), Chase and Hilary (Reuben, Collins), Macy, Grayden; Ruth and Greg Boven - Max and Steph, (Teddy), Madde; Rick and Linnea Hoekwater - Alison and Josh, (Mya, {Polly, Maverick}, Jax), Leah and Jason (Jojo, Ariya), Brianna, Analiese; Sandy and Doug Roelofs - Trent, Levi, Noah, Sierra (Josie); Mike and Janey Hoekwater - Bretton, Grant, Reece; Ken and Marla Hoekwater - Aaron, Alaina, and Audrey; her sister, Doris TeBos; brother, Herm and Ardy Sjoerdsma; sisters-in-law, Kay and Nelson Rotman, and Barb Hoekwater; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bert was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was blessed with a genuine heart for people, independent spirit, and lived her life by example. She was a charter member of Ridgewood CRC and served with her time and talents in many ways over the years. As an avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching various sporting events and always was her children and grandchildren’s biggest fan. Above all, her legacy of faith and family was evident to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St., Jenison with Pastor Michael Ten Haken officiating. Burial will take place at Vogel Center Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, November 5 from 3-6 pm at Ridgewood CRC. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jenison Christian School, The Potter’s House School, or Ridgewood CRC Missions Fund.
