Albert (Al) Henry Rozeboom, age 89, of Jenison, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior, Saturday, September 16, 2017. Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Mary (Arends De Vries); his children, Gary (Marla) Rozeboom, Cindy (Mike) Graham, Ted (Gloria) Rozeboom, Mark (Kim) De Vries, Beth (Dave) Steenwyk, Phil (Kathy) De Vries, Joel (Andrea) De Vries; his grandchildren (great-grandchildren), Nathan Rozeboom, Andrew and Jodi (Olivia) Graham, Cameron and Anna (CJ, Roger) De Vries, Jenny and Pete (Will, Elliott, Henry, Ruth) Heyboer, Amber and Melvin (Tripp, Abbott, Beatrice) Eledge, Rachel (Leighton, Isla, Rhenna) Airth, Jaci and Andy (Adah, Emorie, Harlow) Schipper, Rob Steenwyk, David De Vries, Samantha De Vries, Peter De Vries, Hannah De Vries; his sister, Grace (John) Church; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gord and Bea Schreur, Bob and Georgia Arends, Ruth Maguire, Carolyn De Vries, John and Carol Dekkinga, Gene and Hazel Dornbush, Carolyn De Vries, Bruce and Marcia De Vries; and many nephews and nieces. Al was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Cy Braeckeveldt; brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Dorothy Rozeboom; and his brother-in-law, Ed Dahlstrom. Born and raised in Muskegon, Al was employed by the American Coil Spring Company in Muskegon at the age of 16. He worked at ACS for decades; in the last 10 years of his career, he built and managed a new branch of the company, Carolina Spring Company, in Anderson, South Carolina. A committed Christian, Al was a proud charter member of Grace Christian Reformed Church in Muskegon and volunteered his time in the transportation department of West Michigan Christian Schools to ensure that the buses ran safely and on time. Al was quick to help others; he enjoyed assisting neighbors and friends with projects and repairs. Al’s skill in carpentry also enabled him to build his own home on Wolf Lake, where he enjoyed boating with family and friends. Al loved people and he loved cars. As a young man, he loved driving cars, working on them, and traveling in them. After his retirement and move back to Michigan, he enjoyed driving cars for Grand Rapids Auto Auction. Regularly meeting his friends in Jenison and his friends and family in Muskegon for coffee and conversation gave Al many hours of pleasure. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September, 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Fairway Christian Reformed Church, 1165 44th Street, Jenison, with Rev. Ed Tamminga and Rev. David Den Haan officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Muskegon. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 6-8 p.m.
at the church and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Fairway CRC or the Alzheimer’s Association.
