Albert Potgeter

Albert James Potgeter, age 93, after a life filled with love for the Lord and his family has entered Heaven where he was greeted by his wife, Esther, his son, Bruce, and his grandson, Matthew, on Monday, October 25, 2021. Albert was a lifelong dairy farmer who won numerous awards for his quality farming. He served in many organizations to promote farming. He was a charter member of Second Allendale Christian Reformed Church, where he worshiped and served all his life. Albert enjoyed life on the farm, his family, traveling, wood carving, camping, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Green Acres in Allendale and Emmanuel Hospice for their care of Albert. Those left to cherish the life of this God-fearing, honest, hardworking, generous, and loving man are his children, Mary and Cal Dyke, Gary and Vicki Potgeter, Heidi and Phil Ferwerda, Tammy and Mark Hovingh, Carl Potgeter; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brent and Deb Dyke (Graham, Lillian), Ben and Lindsay Dyke (Hudson, Corbin, Jovie, Trevor, Jordan), Angie and Andrew Mills (Luke, Dylan), Mike and Karen Potgeter (Colton, Logan), Becky and Ian Lewis (Ashlynn and Christian Kelley, Maddox, Isla, Grayson), Wendy and Dan Corner (Amelia, Charles), Stacy Potgeter and Andrew Upman, Emily and Mike Van Winkle (Chelsea, Kaila, Tarrah, Vivienne), Heather and Alberto Garcia (Phillip Jr., William, Brantley), Robert and Melanie Ferwerda, Brian Hovingh, Dan and Phebe Hovingh (Walker, Samson, Truman), and Albert and Emily Hovingh (Kamar, Lilly, Maggie, Solomon, Isabelle, Evelyn, Annabelle); sister, Rachel Mitchell Cole; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vivian Potgeter, Cal and Carol VanKoevering, Martin Jr. and Verna DeJong, Nick and Dorothy Bauman. A private family graveside service was held at Allendale Township Cemetery.
