Albert Edward Massey, Jr., “AJ” of Grand Rapids, peacefully answered the call of heaven on the early morning of March 22, 2024, at the age of 64. He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved parents, Barbara Jean Jones and Albert Edward Massey, Sr. AJ will be cherished by his stepfather, Jesse Peniton. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his children, Albert Williams, Jesse and Shakita Hughes, Barbara Hughes and Shereice Hughes. His adored grandchildren, DeSharion Hughes, King and Ky’Lee Sims, DayLan Hughes, Marley McKinney, Eminence Mushenkye, Brooklyn and A’Nivia Hughes; and granddaughter-in-law Ayana Lott, will forever hold him dear in their hearts. In agreement with AJ’s heartfelt wishes, there will be no funeral services. He will forever be remembered for his infectious laughter, his genuine and candid nature, and his firm commitment to hard work and diligence. AJ was a pillar of strength for his family, embodying the essence of love and kindness towards all who crossed his path. His ability to bring smiles to the faces of those around him was unmatched. Though AJ may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will live on eternally in our hearts. Farewell dad. You are deeply missed and eternally loved.
