Addison Grace Rapp

May 7, 2015 ~
September 19, 2021

On September 19, 2021, Addison Grace Rapp, age 6, completed her battle with cancer and ran into the arms of Jesus. She is now dancing and playing pain free with her little brother Hunter who preceded her as well as her Grandpa Greg. Though her time here with us was short, the impact she made on this world will be felt far into the future. Always one who naturally drew attention, Addison radiated a love and enthusiasm that was infectious to all those around her. Born with Beckwith Wiedemann Syndrome, Addison faced many medical challenges from the moment she was born. At least eleven surgeries and nearly four hundred days spent in hospitals never dampened Addison’s spirit. She was always so bright and happy. Her smile was infectious and her love for people was undeniable. Few people who met Addison ever escaped without holding her hands or receiving one of her world-famous hugs. She wanted to be a doctor when she grew up and often practiced fixing other people’s boo-boos. Addison’s favorite things included babies, golf cart rides, Costco cake, and anything relating to the movie Frozen. She will be dearly missed by her parents, Ryan and Melissa Rapp; her brother Weston; grandparents, David and Deb Mokma, and Gail Rapp; great-grandmothers, Bernice Oele, Marilyn Rapp; aunts and uncles, Katie and Rick Wolters, Jon and Carlee Mokma, Mike and Inez Mokma, Adam and Anna Rapp, and Julianne Rapp; as well as her cousins Mikayla, Jathan, Kaylee, Lina and Noah who she loved to play with. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, 11 am at Georgetown Christian Fellowship, 3668 Port Sheldon St., Hudsonville with Pastor David Dehen officiating. Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the church and on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Starlite Shores (www.starliteshores.org) or Shields of Hope West Michigan (https://shieldsofhopewestmi.com/).

I had the privilege to help out a few times in Addison's classroom at OAC. She was such a sweet, intelligent, energetic little girl. Just thinking about her now makes me smile. My deepest sympathy to her family, I know you will miss her deeply each & every day. Her brief life on earth touched so many people and made our world a much better place. I hope you find comfort in that fact. Thoughts and prayers are with you today and in the days ahead. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Kim Sullivan

I never met her in person but I always enjoyed looking and reading the posts her family shared. She is now an angel in heaven.

As a Starlite volunteer , I have so many memories of Addison. This past year as I was leaving the activity center , Addison was climbing up the steps with her Dad in pursuit . She was laughing so hard and it made me laugh. Such a sweet happy girl ! Praying that you will feel God’a loving arms around you in the days ahead!

Although I never met Addison personally, I was in awe watching her and her family the past couple years. The strength, faith and always positive reactions to what came their way was a true testament to Gods never failing love. Always smiling, always cherishing every single moment given to them. Thank you for never doubting Gods all consuming love. I know without a doubt that Addison is dancing on the streets of gold with her little brother, waiting for her family, saving a place for them and us all

I met Addison at her home visit, birthday visit and Great Wolf Lodge with Shields of Hope. She was always smiling, even towards the end. Her love for Elsa and Anna was wonderful to see and she “loved her sistas”. She was an inspiration to all who met her and her smile and hugs will be missed. I love that your pain and suffering are gone and you can now run and play with Jesus and the angels. Bless you and God give comfort to the Rapp family.

I had the dearest privilege of working with Addison at the Ottawa Area Center. Addison might have been born with a disability, but in the classroom she never showed it. She overcame so many obstacles, both personally and academically. Being her teacher, she taught me so much. One quality that she shared with me was to embrace every day with positivity. The smiles, hugs and giggles that she displayed to other staff and students was truly incredible as well as inspiring. A bright light was seen and felt as she entered my classroom. It was an honor getting to know Melissa, Ryan and Weston. They are one of the best families that I have known over my teaching career. They had so much love, support and strength for Addison. I miss seeing Addison's smile and hearing her laugh, but I am positive that she is looking down upon me and reminding me to be happy and cherish every moment in this life. Her presence will never be forgotten and will remain in my heart and soul.

To know Addison was to feel joy in her presence. She always welcomed people with open arms and a big smile. She gave the best hugs!!! It has been an honor and privilege to be her aunt. I miss her already so much! I am definitely blessed to have such great memories with her. I am so sad she is no longer here with us but I look forward to seeing her again in heaven some day. May God surround Missy and Ryan with His comfort and peace. With love, Katie Wolters
