Daniel “Joe” McRoberts

Daniel “Joe” Joseph McRoberts passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the age of 78. He was born September 3, 1940, in Lake Odessa, Michigan, to Roy J. and Ruth Winey McRoberts, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Howard McRoberts, Roy Junior McRoberts; sisters, Olive Collier, Marie and Duane Deardorff; sister-in-law, Vera McRoberts; brothers-in-law, Ralph Sells, Gordon Petyanus, Donald Collier. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Jean (Keith) Bergy; sisters-in-law, Betty Mc Roberts, Geneva McRoberts; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren which he served faithfully throughout his lifetime. He was involved in music ministry of the church both singing and playing the piano. He served locally as Treasurer, Ministerial Commission, Church Board Chair and Deacon Board. He served the Michigan District Church of the Brethren as Treasurer, Moderator and Board Chair.  Denominationally he served on the General Board, Association of Brethren Care Givers Board, Ministry and Mission Board and Deacon Board. During his working days, he was employed by several restaurants and hotels in the Traverse City and Grand Rapids areas and also worked in the wholesale/retail grocery business for Spartan Stores Inc. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Hope Church of the Brethren, 14275 92nd St. SE (M-50), Freeport, MI  49325, with Pastor Ike Porter. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa, MI. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church one hour prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hope Church of the Brethren.
