Verna Rennison “Tootie” King, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, and is now in the presence of her creator. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vance King; and her second husband, Joe Thomas. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jan (Bob) Harris, Mary King-Robrahn, Donald (Silvia) King, Michel (Gayle) King, Lonny King; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Verna invested her time and passion with kids in Junior Olympics and was affectionately known to many of them as “Ma King”. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of SKLD in Zeeland and Hospice of Holland for the love and compassionate care given to Verna.
