Edward “Dal” Shippy

Edward Paul “Dal” Shippy, age 96, of Grand Rapids, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020. Dal proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Asian Pacific Theater as a signalman Second Class aboard the USS Sheridan troup carrier.  He worked as a master electrician during his career and over 30 years at Sackner Products. Later he worked as an electrical inspector with the city of Wyoming.  He enjoyed baseball and was a loyal Tigers fan to the end. He loved sitting outside in the sun saying the rosary. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mary; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  Dal will be lovingly remembered by his children: Randy and Karen Shippy, Cynthia Hall and Brian Pitts, Ron and Julie Shippy, Richard and Penny Shippy; grandchild, Jared Langeland; sisters: Alice and Barbara; several nieces and nephews.  A graveside service will be held at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Pilgrim Manor and Faith Hospice for their loving care of Dal. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pilgrim Manor or Faith Hospice.
