Carol J. Dekkinga (DeVries), age 84, of Jenison, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. She was preceded in death by her infant son, James Carl. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who had a great sense of humor and a radiant positive personality. She was blessed with a servant’s heart and gift of hospitality and always put others before herself. Above all, her love for her Lord and her family was evident to all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, John Dekkinga, Sr.; children, Cherie and Ken Bultman, David and Gloria Dekkinga, Dan Dekkinga, Julie and Joe Raap, John Dekkinga, Jr., Lori and Robert Hoorn, Tim and Tricia Dekkinga; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; siblings, Hazel and Eugene Dornbush, Bruce and Marcia DeVries; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary and Wilbur Huizing, Carolyn R. DeVries, Carolyn A. DeVries, Bonnie and Gordon Beerens; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 1 pm at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Ave, Hudsonville (NE corner of 36th and Port Sheldon St.), with Rev. Shawn Hulst officiating.  Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family from 12-1 pm prior to the service at church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Friends and Family of Cystic Fibrosis (https://www.friendsandfamiliesofcf.org/wp/) or to Brookcrest Nursing Home (https://www.sunsetcommunities.org/donate/).
