Yolande “Lonnie” Marie Longstreet, age 87, of Jenison, was called to her eternal home on her birthday, Friday, February 28, 2025. Lonnie was born to John and Marie Degi in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother whose family was the most important thing in her life, after the Lord. Her children and grandchildren were precious to her. Lonnie’s commitment to volunteering with Jenison Christian School and various other organizations speaks volumes about her servant’s heart and her desire to make a positive impact on others. She was always willing and eager to help anyone who needed help. She took the time to enjoy the simpler things in life including sewing and other hand-made items, appreciating the beauty in nature, taking walks, and camping in a tent every summer until she was 82 years old! She was the target of many good-natured pranks. Her Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas sticky buns couldn’t be beat. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Diane Hatt; brother, Paul Degi; parents-in-law, Nelson and Jessie Longstreet; brother-in-law, Gordon and Barbara Longstreet; and sister-in-law, Joyce Ballast. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 68 years, Jim Longstreet; daughters, Melinda Stuyvesant and Brenda Longstreet; grandchildren, Amanda Knipp, Derek and Haley Stuyvesant, Angela and Aaron Seeley, Brian and Renae Longstreet; great-grandchildren, Sader, Sutton, Braylor, Zoe, Paige and Austin; great-great-grandchild, Evelyn; brother-in-law, Rod Ballast; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., with Pastor Don Van Slyke officiating. Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday, March 5, from 4-7 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
