Yoko Ward

Yoko Ward, age 87, of Kentwood, MI passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Born in Sagamihara-Shi, Kanagawa Ken, Japan on February 24, 1937, Yoko embraced a life full of love. In 1966, Yoko moved to the United States living in Greenville, Belding and Kentwood, MI. She proudly became a U.S. citizen on August 10, 1971. She spent 40 years as a dedicated employee at Meijer in Greenville, MI before retiring. Yoko was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stephen Ward; her former spouse, Maurice Noyes; parents, Kimie Omata Misawa and Yoshio Misawa; in-laws, Gene Kirby, William Ward, Beckie (Dennis) Cogswell. She is survived by her loving family, including her sisters, Yuki Misawa and Noriko Carpenter; her daughter, Kathryn Noyes (Keith) Meyer; her son, Steven (Joann) Noyes; step-son, Stephen (Brenda) Ward; step-daughter, Kim (Joey) Ortiz; granddaughters, Tonya Noyes, Alexa Noyes, Brenna Noyes; many beloved extended family members including in-laws, Robin (Gerald) Kiste; nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and friends. Yoko was adored for her kind and gentle personality. She found joy in spending time with her family and friends, gardening, painting, puzzling, fishing, as well as many years participating in golf and bowling leagues. Yoko’s life touched so many and her warmth and compassion will leave an enduring legacy. Due to her wishes cremation will take place.
