
Shirley “Marie” Workman, age 89, surrounded by her loving family, went to be with Jesus Thursday evening, June 8, 2017. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; parents, John and Louise Van Loon; baby brother, Tommy; brother, Adrian (Sonny); son in law, Tom Manuel; sister in law, Nel Van Loon; and brother in law, Roger Rusco. Marie is survived by her children, Donna Workman, Joan Manuel, Tom and Deb Workman, John and Lori Workman, David and Mary Workman, Lynne and Brian McGrath; grandchildren, Kristina (Darrell), Tanya (Howard), Matthew (Nichole), Tammy (Jeremy), Melanie (Mark), Melissa, Beth (Aaron), Nick (Candice), Adam (Candace), Joseph, Brian (Kerry), Shane, Lindsay (Adam), Cullin, Gregory; she was Mimi to Anna, Mackenzie, Evan, Kylie, Madison, Braeden, Jaxon, Jager, Ethan, Grady, Alexa, Mia, Isaac, Eden, Kevin, Glen, Chase, Xavier, Jack, Adison, Aiden, Ivy, Colt and baby girl due in August; siblings, Hubert VanLoon, Carl (Joy) Van Loon, Marge Rusco, Mike (Lynne) Van Loon; many nieces, nephews, friends and her Wesley Park UMC family. Marie was very active at Wesley Park UMC. She was part of the UM Women, served on many different boards within the church, and faithfully served as a prayer warrior. She enjoyed being part of the Red Hat Society for a time and playing card games. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her great grandbabies and had a special place in her heart for Helen DeVos Children’s Neonatal Center for which she made many hats, mittens, and other items for the precious babies there. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am, with one hour of visitation prior to the service, at Wesley Park United Methodist Church, 1150 - 32nd Street SW, Wyoming with Pastor Dean Prentiss officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming on Monday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Interment Winchester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Hospice of Michigan, or Wesley Park UMC.
