William Peter Visser

William Peter Visser, age 87, of Jenison, formerly of Wyoming, passed away on Thursday, May 21 into the loving arms of Jesus. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Yvonne; his children, Pamela and Douglas Stemen, and their children, Steven, Shannon, and Elisabeth and Josh; Pete and Mary Visser and their children, Bill, Rob and Julie, David and Dana, and Leanne and Mike; Tom and Laura Visser and their children, Jane and Mike, Lynn and Ryan, and Dena and Danny; Patti and Tom Diekevers, and their children, Joe and Kristin, Sarah and Matt, Sam and Danielle, Seth and Serafina, Luke, and Levi; 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Lila Alkema, Esther Telman, Marianne and Don Huizenga, his twin sister, Bea Weaver, and his in-laws: Marce Leestma, Mill'e and Ed DeGraaf, Wilbur and Sharon Lettinga, and John and Marge Kuiper, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Dena Visser; his in-laws, John and Henrietta Kuiper; his sister, Irene Brill; and his brother-in-laws, Larry Alkema, Bud Brill, Jerry Telman, Marv Weaver; sister-in-law, Judy Lettinga; and dear friends, Bob and Ann Haveman. Bill loved his Lord, serving his church in the positions of elder and deacon. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bill enjoyed traveling with Vonne, spending quality time with his family and attending all of his grandkids' sporting events. Bill was also very active as an umpire in West Michigan at many levels. He was a retiree of Steelcase and was a very talented craftsman. A special thanks from the family to the incredible and caring nursing staff of Spectrum Health Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday 11:00 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. with Rev. Kent Rottman officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 6-9 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to either Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care or Lee Street Christian Reformed Church.
