William L. Whalen

William Lee Whalen, age 68 of Ionia passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Olena Whalen. Bill is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barb; son, William R. Whalen; step children, Samantha Heynig and (Ham), Benjamin (Ami) Heynig, Jennifer Rapson; step grandchildren, Ziva, Altair, Violet, Isaac, Justin, Destiny, Anthony; sisters, Ellen (Dale) Hobart, Anna (Larry) Hanks. Bill proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a dedicated corrections officer for many years before retirement. A celebration of Bills life will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 11:00 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Chapel, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Relatives and friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, March 10 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Ft. Custer Military Cemetery, (Battle Creek).
