William Jay Osterink, Jr.

William Jay Osterink Jr., age 62, of Grandville, passed away surrounded by family at his home on Sunday, October 24, 2021. William was preceded in death by his father, William J. Osterink Sr. and husband, Robert Goetz. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Doris Osterink; son, Will (Maria) Osterink lll; daughter, Whitney (Dan) Beard; grandchildren: Mason, Maleigh, Drew, Evelyn, and Estelle; siblings: Deb (Pete) Dussault, Denise Johnson; several nieces and nephews along with many friends and sailors who were like family to Bill. Bill owned and operated Georgetown Village and Rivertown Carwashes. He also went on to establish Rivertown Auto Plaza. He was well known at the Van Andel Arena and attended many events, especially the Grand Rapids Griffins. He loved sailing and was infamous around the ports of Lake Michigan, his favorite being Port Washington, Wisconsin for the Clipper Cup. He will be greatly missed for his generosity and love of gathering people. There was always adventure but safe harbor with Captain Bill. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held for immediate family. We also plan to gather next summer to toast Bill’s life.
