William J. Tomac

William Joseph Tomac, age 90, died July, 13, 2019. Willam was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 5, 1929 to Peter and Danica Tomac. His parents and five brothers have all preceded him in death. He served two years in the Navy before enlisting in the Coast Guard. He retired after 18 years of service. His next career was with the US Postal Service, retiring following 20 years of faithful service. While stationed on the USCG Mackinaw in Cheboygan, he met his wife of 63 years, Jessie Jarvis. Jessie preceded him in death in 2015. He was also preceded by his daughter Diane Campogan in 2013. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Karen and Ed Neumann, David and Tamara Tomac, Carol and Mark Sielawa, Gary Tomac, Todd Tomac; his grandchildren, Jason and Julie Neumann, Josh and Keri Neumann, Ryan and Lyn Campogan, Zachary Campogan, Hailey, Colin, and Aubrey Tomac, and eight great-grandchildren who adored him as the elder of the family.  William was a fix-it guy, generous with love, jokes, music, and his positive attitude. He was humble and kind to people and animals, and a very devout Catholic. A resident of St. Ann’s Home in Grand Rapids when he passed, he attended daily mass and spent the better part of each day socializing with other residents. He loved to talk about his adventurous life. His children have many memories to cherish forever.  At Williams’s request cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at a private family ceremony later this year.
