William “Bill”  Visser

Visser, William "Bill" William “Bill” Visser, age 92, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 26, 2014.  His was the classic immigrant success story. He emigrated from the Netherlands in 1948 and started his own successful business as a house painter.  He retired and enjoyed winters in Florida with his wife.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as fishing, cards, puzzles, and reading.  He was a devoted husband and loving father who will be missed. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fran.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Fran; children, Dr. Richard and Joy Visser, Deanne Brink, Joyce Bouw, Linda and Dan Averill, Betty Slendebroek, Gerry Slendebroek, Tom Slendebroek, Carolyn and Dan Navis, Sharon and Don VanderWal; 27 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Betty Postema, Elsie DeWall, Janet Hoekstra, John Slendebroek, Wilma Osenga, Hennie DeJager, Grace and Jim Adrianse, Arlene and Don Stoorteboom.  Funeral services will be held on Friday 11 am at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin Street, Jenison with Rev. Gerald Van Groningen and Rev. Darrin Compagner officiating.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Potters House.
