William “Bill” Greig

William “Bill” M. Greig, age 89, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 21, 2025. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ellen; son, David; parents, Fred and Cora Greig; brother, Dick Greig; Dee’s brothers, Wayne Ammon, and Glenn Ammon. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 65 years, Delores “Dee” Greig; grandchildren, Ethan Willis, Moriah Willis; son-in-law, Mark and Martha Willis; siblings, Barbara Nicholson, Dolores Freeman, Fred Greig, Marian Belgard, Sherry Stevens, Karen Corbett; Dee’s siblings, Gloria VanDyk, Carol and Ned Kriekard, Jan Highhouse, Ruth Hendricks; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Bill taught biology, anatomy, and physiology at Grand Rapids Central High School and Rockford High School before he and Dee served as missionaries in the 1970s in Zambia for eight years where he taught biology and physiology. He enjoyed tennis, playing in high school and college and coaching for Rockford and Grand Rapids Central high schools. He loved the Lord and loved to study the Bible. His faith and family were the most important in his life. He loved sweets, especially Hersey’s, but particularly M&M’s. When everyone else had one dessert, he would eat two desserts. He was a calm and quiet man who will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 2:30 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Shawn DeJong and Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. The burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 1:30-2:15 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jamestown Baptist Church - Missionary Fund.
