William (Bill) E.  Eitel

Eitel, William E. EITEL-William E. (Bill) Eitel, aged 86, of Kentwood went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 22, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley and two infant brothers who died at birth.  Bill proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  He was a proud, active member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Haas Council 4362 holding the office of Grand Knight, Master of the 4th Degree, Faithful Navigator, Chief Counselor of Squires Circle and various other positions. He was a caring and loving man who helped others by donating food and money to God’s Kitchen and helping with the handicapped children’s bowling tournaments.  Bill loved to hunt, fish, camp and take “road trips”.  Most of all Bill loved spending time with family and friends, sharing stories and experiences. He will be dearly missed by his children, Glenyce and Richard Jansma, Bill and Ellen Eitel, Brenda McClurkin and Richard Parnell, Cherri Eitel, Richie Stehr; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday at 11:00 am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1213 - 52nd St. SE, Kentwood with Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere, celebrant.  Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden.  Members of the family will receive relatives and friends at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  A Rosary Service will be held Sunday at 7:30 pm.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to God’s Kitchen.
