Wayne Weers

Wayne L. Weers Sr, age 85, of Jenison, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After he came home he drove truck for many years until his retirement. Wayne was also a 50-year member of the Train Collectors Association. Wayne enjoyed baseball and was involved with the Georgetown Little League ever since his boys were young. Wayne was a dog lover, and he especially loved his two comfort dogs, Smokey and Bandit. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Angie Weers; grandchild, Amanda Weers; parents-in-law, Earl and Beryl Sweet; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Sweet. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Mary; children, William Weers, Robert Weers, Wayne Jr. and Amy Weers, Benjamin and Jennifer Weers; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Marv Andree; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Jeff Gunderman officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Thursday, October 3 from 6-8 pm and on Friday from 10-10:45 am at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
