Wayne Martin

Wayne Martin, age 90, of Wyoming, was called home to Heaven and became our guardian angel on Monday, April 2, 2018.   He was born to Lawrence and Rose (Maynard) Martin on September 3, 1927 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Wayne had the strength of heart to heed the call and defend our country in the U.S. Army during WWII and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was honored with a purple heart as a hero. Wayne was a stellar example of the Greatest Generation.  He was an avid lover of the outdoors, tending to his yard and taking long drives with his wife and kids. He was preceded in death on December 23, 2017 by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis; brothers and sisters; Larry, Donald, Clayton, and Gordon Martin and Eleanor Black. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kathryn Syswerda, Janet and Sam Faluso, Brian and Linda Martin, Paula Martin; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother:  Richard and Margaret Martin; sister, Rosemary and Robert MacIntosh; sister-in-law: Marian Martin; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home 4031 Clyde Park Ave. SW., Wyoming. After the visitation, there will be a Prayer Service at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Phil Shangraw presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American House Senior Living, Kentwood Location.
