Wanda Kunzi

Wanda Kay Kunzi, age 77, of Grandville, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Wanda grew up in Michigan but was teaching in California when God called her to work in Asia, where she spent most of her adult life. She loved Asia and even after coming back to Michigan she longed for the authentic Asian food and the big cool mountains.

She had a passion to see God's people involved in praying for the nations. She continued her work after returning to the states by creating interactive kids crafts to introduce kids to the different Asian countries and was actively involved with Zoom prayer groups across the world.

Wanda was gifted with hospitality in that she was always welcoming many guests to her home. She was always ready to show the love of Jesus.

In her will, she included the following verses: "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." (Psalm 139:16) and "Then I heard a voice from heaven say, 'Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on,' 'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.' " (Revelation 14:13) She explained: "What this means to me is that through the work of Jesus Christ the covenant curse of death has been turned into my hope of an eternal reward. As a Christian, I need not fear death nor take extraordinary measures to needlessly prolong it."

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Kunzi; mother, Esther Kunzi; and brother-in-law, John Balkon. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Gail Balkon; her nephew and nieces, Eric and Kathryn Balkon, and Melissa Balkon; and her grandnieces, Kenzie and Rylee Balkon.

A celebration of life open house will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 1-3 p.m. at Calvary Christian Reformed Church, 3500 Byron Center Ave. SW, Wyoming MI 49519. A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to OMF International.
