October 16, 2026

Jean H. Van Koevering, age 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 16, 2026. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Together with her husband, Roger, Jean had a deep commitment to Christian education and were proud to have sent all five of their children to Grandville Calvin Christian School. She worked for over 20 years as secretary at Trinity Christian Reformed Church. In her free time, Jean enjoyed time spent with the kids and grandkids at the cottage on Big Star Lake. Above all, Jean loved the Lord. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12: 1-2

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Roger; nine great-grandchildren; one brother and six sisters, and three siblings-in-law. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children, Deb and Steve Buerger, Doug and Tricia Van Koevering, Den and Barb Van Koevering, Dawn and Clutch Holtvluwer, Danette and Keith Hoekman; 19 grandchildren: Heather and Nick, Erin and Tim, Andrew and Sullivan, Eli and Caroline, Michaela and Michael, Seth and Malyn, Tate and Kalee, Amber and Nate, Chaz and Stacie, Jessica, Kelsey and John, Ashley, Chris, Kaylee and Nate, Brittany and Matt, Lindsey and Jesse, Taylor, Morgan, Ryleigh; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin and Donna DeVries, Sherwin and Donna DeVries; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Cornerstone United Reformed Church, 6442 36th Ave., Hudsonville. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery.
