Robert Searles

Robert Searles, age 88, of Allendale, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 14, 2026, to be with his Savior who he faithfully loved and served his whole life. Bob attended Piedmont Bible College in North Carolina and over the years served the Lord in many different capacities. Whether it was the Council of Ten, serving on the board of camp ministries, or pastoring at churches in both Illinois and Michigan, Bob devoted his life to bringing people up in the Lord. He retired while serving as pastor of Allendale Baptist Church, and even in his retirement Bob continued to lead and advise members of the church in his role as an elder. He was an avid Tigers fan, and he will be remembered for his infectious smile and great sense of humor. Most important to Bob was his family and he enjoyed attending his grandkids sporting events, plays, practices and all other variety of events. Whatever they were doing he just loved to be there for them, encouraging them, and mentoring them. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Searles. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Lois; children, Julie and David Oswald, Dan and Loretta Searles, Dave and Carrie Searles, Lori and Jesse Carrell; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia and Robert Scoggins, Judith Braden; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Friday,  June 19, 2026, at Allendale Baptist Church, 6262 Lake Michigan Dr., Allendale with Pastor Mark Green officiating. Burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Thursday from 5-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. and on Friday from 10:30-11:30 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Bible Training Institute at Allendale Baptist Church.
