Vita Pepper

Vita Mae (Shoemaker) Pepper, age 90, of Byron Center, passed into the loving arms of her Holy Father on Sunday, August 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marion Shoemaker; son, Harold Lee Pepper; grandson, Randy Scott Pepper; brother, Eugene Shoemaker; sister, Virginia Salmon; and numerous in-laws. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Norman; children, Ken (Connie), Steve (Patty), Tim (Joan), Nancy, and Ruth; sisters, MaryJane (Howard) Goorhouse, Irene (Ben) Vegter; and many loving extended family and friends. She was grandma to 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Vita was beloved by all who knew her. She touched more lives than she knew through her work as a lunch lady at Northwest Elementary School for 28 years and various church activities. Vita was a voracious reader, loved golfing, being outside and playing cards with her sisters. Her legacy continues to live on in the lives she touched. She was a role model as a Christian, devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. We take comfort in knowing she is in Heaven and pain free. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Jenison Bible Church, 6360 14th Ave., Hudsonville, with Rev. Mark Bouslog officiating. The burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, August 30, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at church.
