Versol Haan

Versol Eugene Haan, age 89, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Jacob and Josephine Haan. Versol was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who dearly cherished his family. He was a lifelong pharmacist, graduating from the University of Michigan and working at various pharmacies in the West Michigan area. Versol truly loved his work and made many friendships during his career. He was especially proud of the Emeritus Honor that he received from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in 2009. Versol was an American History enthusiast and was very knowledgeable. He could engage in history conversations for many hours! As a skilled carpenter, Versol built numerous structures including a cottage, a screened-in porch addition to his home, an enormous backyard shed, and he even helped build a house for his mother. Versol also enjoyed music, previously singing in church choirs, listening to various musicals, and especially loved music of the 40’s and 50’s. As a proud University of Michigan graduate, he was a true maize and blue sports fan and enjoyed watching many games. Additionally, Versol and and his wife, Lynda, enjoyed traveling both as a couple and with their family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Joy (Haan) Theeuwes. Versol was the youngest of his seven siblings, all of which preceded him in death. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Lynda Haan; children, Kevin (Corey) Haan and their children, Madeleine (Vishal) Christian, Aidan, Liam; Kara (Kenneth) Alfano and their son, Peter; sister-in-law, Jackie Nelson; loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. Brian West officiating. Burial will take place in Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 5, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Jamestown) 2371 Riley St., Hudsonville and on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Faith Hospice, or to the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
