Timothy R. Benton

Timothy R. Benton, age 67, of Grandville, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 17, 2022, after a courageous 4.5-year battle with glioblastoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Benton and Jackie Fezatte; brothers, Tom Benton and Terry Benton; and daughter-in-law, Shannon Benton. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years, Cindy Benton; children, Scott Benton, Stephanie and Kevin Langejans; grandchildren, Nik Haverkamp, Madison and Timmie Benton, Eli, Lucy and Macy Langejans; stepmother, Rose Benton; brothers, Bob Benton, Jerry and Trisha Benton; sister, Cindi and Gary Papendick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dee and Sim Clements; and many very special nieces and nephews.

Tim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1974-1977. Tim was a gentle, giving man who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed summers at the cottage, fishing, campfires and pontoon rides around the lake drinking a cold brew. Tim loved to find humor in life, he especially loved a good “lame dad joke”. He was a successful businessman who appreciated working alongside his son. Tim didn’t “sweat the small stuff” and lived life by his own motto that “it is what it is”.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr SW with Pastor Craig Harris officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, September 21, from 5-7 p.m. and Thursday from noon-12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
