Thomas W. Nelson, Sr., age 78, of Hudsonville, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy Nelson. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Joyce; children, Ronda and Scott Brinks, Tom and Regina Nelson Jr., Bill and Sherry Nelson, Melissa Nelson; grandchildren, Josh and Chelsea Brinks, Nate and Amanda Brinks, Grant Nelson, Elijah and Emily Nelson, Kayla Varice, Saraya Varice, Quentin Fletcher, April Potter, Jackie and Dan Vanis; great-grandchildren, Tony Potter, Blake Vanis, Josiah Brinks, Caden Brinks; three foster great-grand-babies; brother, Don Nelson; sister, Barb and Tom Kniff; sisters-in-law, Sandy and Glenn Salmon, Leann and Bill Scholten; brother-in-law, Jim and Sally Wilson. Tom was an avid hunter, loved to golf, fish, and go up north to the farmhouse. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr., with Pastor Bob Bloom officiating. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice.
