Thomas Scott Thieme

Thomas Scott (‘Scott’) Thieme, age 60, of Wyoming, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Scott was a HS graduate of Catholic Central (‘77) where he played football and ran track. He married his high school sweetheart, Jodie, soon after. Scott worked at Gordon Food Service for 38 years and regretted that his health prevented him from achieving a full 40. Scott was a family man from the beginning, providing support and advice to his younger sisters. He tended these principles in his three children, always with a great sense of humor; his “dad jokes” will be forever missed! He taught his kids how to make the most out of a hard-earned dollar, and when it was important to value quality over quantity, or in the case of treats and treasures, quantity over quality. He taught us that almost everything can be fixed with duct tape, zip ties, and maybe a little spray paint. Scott was an outdoor enthusiast, returning from each adventure to immediately plan the next. His creativity kept the entire family entertained, from planning annual canoe theme (‘Thieme’) trips, to inventing Hunger Games-inspired holiday games; his nieces and nephews adored his playful spirit. Scott looked forward to a retirement full of travel, exploration, and giving new life to old objects. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jodie, of 39 years; three children, Jennifer (Evan Wilson) Thieme, Michael (fiancee Ting Voravong) Thieme, and Kristi Thieme; mother, Donna Thieme; father, Paul Thieme; parents-in-law, Mike and Katie Cuncannan; siblings, Paul (Marci) Thieme, Steve (Debbie) Thieme, Terri (Steve) McCarthy, Lisa (Roger) Kloosterhouse; in-laws, Mike (Mary) Cuncannan, Kurt (Julie) Cuncannan, Kevin (Nancy) Cuncannan, Karl (Nancy) Cuncannan, Jackie (Jason Hadges) Cuncannan, KC (Deann) Cuncannan; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, November 2, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Steven Cron presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm (rosary at 7:30 pm) at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or The Ocean Conservancy.
