Thomas John Kazemier, age 45, of Middleville, MI passed away unexpectedly and was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Tom was born on February 28, 1970 in Grand Rapids, MI. Tom’s family and faith were of the utmost importance to him. He was an adoring and unwavering husband, devoted father, loving son, a beloved brother, a fun loving uncle, and a loyal friend.
Tom was a man of integrity and exceptional character. He spent much of his time mentoring those around him, coaching his kid's sports teams and being outdoors. The evidence of his impact on our earthly world can be seen throughout the community, family, and friends.
The amazing legacy Tom has left for his children will guide them forever. Aiden shares Tom’s passion for problem solving, cooking, projects and his drive to be involved in activities. Kennedy shares his love for music, lyrics, nature, love of bird watching as well as his quiet reflectiveness on life. Jeanie will always remember the adoration that Tom had for her. Through Tom’s unconditional love he helped her see and become the woman she is today.
He was an active member of Journey church and recently spearheaded the efforts to build their new facility. This opportunity in serving God blessed him immensely with deeper relationships within his church family.
Tom had a love and appreciation for life which included fishing, camping, hiking, and four wheeling. His appetite for food and life far exceeded most. His candor was welcomed by many who knew Tom always had their best interest at heart.
Tom taught his children to appreciate not only the small things in life, but soundly instilled in them the ability to see the big picture as well. He was always working on a project and taught his children the value of seeing it through to completion. The process of working toward a goal is what drove Tom on every project he committed to.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Tom developed a love for construction and building. Graduating from Ferris State University in 1992 with degrees in construction management and facilities management. Tom’s professional career included owning Concept Construction and a combined total of 15 years at Amway. He was a highly respected and valued part of the Amway team as the Supervisor of Facilities Planning and Real Estate for his skill set, work ethic, and leadership.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Jeanie Kazemier who was truly his life's partner and love of his life. Their bond is a genuine testament of how God calls us to love one another and the pure meaning of marriage. They often reminded each other, “It's me and you, just us two...forever”. They would have been celebrating 20 years of marriage this May, and together a total of 26 years. Although his time here with her was cut short his impact will live on forever.
He also leaves behind his children, Kennedy and Aiden. He is survived by his parents, Pete and Ann Kazemier; his father-in law and mother-in-law, Mel and Pat Boonstra; his brothers, Mike (Leah) Kazemier, Greg Kazemier, Bruce (Tina) Kazemier; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mel Boonstra; Angela (Bill) Wilburn; Karen Boonstra, his sister-in-law; Lisa Schwartz, his sister-in-law; nieces and nephews, Shawna, Drake, Devin Kazemier, Nicole Kazemier, Katie (Justin) Kunze, Tucker (Anna) Boonstra, Sydnee Boonstra (Jordan), Rylee Wilburn.
The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, February 27 at Journey Church, 9185 Cherry Valley Ave., Caledonia from 4-6 pm.
A Memorial Service for Tom will be held on Sunday, February 28 at 2 pm at Cornerstone Church, 1675 - 84th St. SE, Caledonia.
