Thomas A. Carroll

Thomas A. Carroll, aged 85 of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 28, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Helen Jean (Whyte) Carroll; parents, Thomas F. and Hazel M. Carroll; sister, Brigid; brother-in-law, John Bard; and nephew, Jack Bard. Tom is survived by his children, Linda Crawford, Tom (Dawn) Carroll, Jim Carroll, Bob Carroll, Jean Marie (Rob) Carroll-Hamilton; grandchildren, Caroline (Trevor) Davies, Kathleen (Brian) Dunning, Bradley (Holly) Carroll, Andrea (Jonathan) Hancock, Casey and Courtney Carroll, Dakota, Keaton and Kassity Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Parker and Morgan Davies, Hazel and Brennan Dunning, Hadley and Colton Hancock, and Mae Carroll, who will have a sibling in October; daughter-in-law, Leslie Carroll; sister, Betty Bard; and special nieces, Liz and Kate and their families. Tom graduated from Huron College and was a dedicated 34 year employee and Hall of Fame inductee of the Pillsbury Company. He was a long time member of Holy Name of Jesus Church. He valiantly served his country in the Korean War as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Infantry. Tom was a truly involved, loving family man who put his children and grandchildren above his own needs and wants. The family would like to thank the staff of Vista Springs, St. Mary’s Hospital, Trillium Woods, Porter Hills Home Care, and his neighbors and friends for their tender care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1630 Godfrey SW, Wyoming with Fr. Stephen Dudek and Fr. Don Weber presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood on Monday from 4-8 pm with a scripture service at 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church or a charity of one’s choice.
