Donald Dean Hampshire, age 67, of Byron Center, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Born on November 22, 1958, in Pontiac, Michigan, Don was the beloved son of Dale and Sylvia (Rouse) Hampshire. He was raised in the faith and remained a devoted member of Origins Church, where he found strength, fellowship, and a steadfast foundation in God’s Word.

Don faithfully served in the United States Navy from 1977 to 1980. He carried out his duties with quiet dedication and a strong sense of responsibility, reflecting his commitment to serving others.

Following his time in the Navy, Don was proud to own his contracting company, Hampshire Installations. Don was a good man with a big heart. He was known for his strong work ethic and care for family and friends. Everyone that knew him, loved him. He found joy in collectibles and music, spending time by the water, playing games with family and friends, traveling with his wife, and being with his granddaughters. Don lived a life full of love and devotion.

Don is lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Karen (Herrema) Hampshire; his bonus children, Thomas (Lauren) Hohman and Anthony (Melissa) Hohman; his granddaughters, Clementine, Collins, and Sutton; his brother, Edward (Mary) Hampshire; his aunt, Sharon Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Sylvia Hampshire.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Searchlight Ministries, 4020 22nd Ave., Hudsonville, with Pastor Brad Langstraat of Origins Church officiating.
