Ted W. Haan

On February 3, 2021, Ted W. Haan, husband and father, passed away, at age 73, after a lengthy battle with Huntington’s Disease. Ted was born on March 20, 1947, in Grand Rapids, to Ted and Dorothy Haan. He graduated from Rogers High School, served his nation as a flight engineer with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, and earned an associate’s degree from Montcalm Community College. Ted spent his career working as an engineer and contributed to projects across the country. He also earned several patents for his contributions to the field. On August 9, 1985, Ted married Kay. They raised two sons, Cody Haan and Sam Lemmon. Throughout his life, Ted loved to spend time at his cottage participating in activities on the water and he always had a passion for classic cars. Ted also exhibited a dry wit that was appreciated by many. He also cherished being a grandfather to Caden and Madison. Finally, Ted was an ardent University of Michigan fan. Go Blue! Ted is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 35 years, Kay; sons, Cody Haan, and Sam (Jessica) Lemmon; grandchildren, Caden and Madison Lemmon; brother, David (Joy) Haan; sisters, Janet (Dennis) Dorgan, and Sally Payne; sisters-in-law, Kristi Goethel, and Diane Burns; and brother-in-law, Robert Price. A private family graveside service will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Hospice.
