Sybel Nobel

Sybel Wilhelmina (de Vries) Nobel, age 74, was lifted into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.  She died peacefully at home in her sleep after a laborious battle with cancer.  Sybel was born August 5, 1941 in Alkmaar, Netherlands.  The only one of her family to move to America; she and her wooden trunk arrived in Grand Rapids, MI in the summer of 1962.  She met Arie later that year and they married in June of 1963.  Sybel was constant and faithful in her loving service as wife, mother and grandmother.  Her gift of hospitality was used to minister to many.  A kind and gracious soul, Sybel loved and lived Christ.  We will miss her loving heart, her selfless generosity and strong Dutch coffee.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Kunst and her grandson, Caleb.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Arie Nobel, Jr.; her children, Jephthah (Arlene) Nobel, Scott Kunst, Enoch (Nancy) Nobel, Nathaniel Nobel, Lydia (Jay) Bouman, Jonathan (Kari) Nobel, Barak (Stacy) Nobel, Amos Nobel; 34 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Mieke de Vries-Hornsveld, Piet (Carla) de Vries, Sietse (Elly) de Vries, Rita (Bert) Matthijssen; many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 am at Bethel United Reformed Church, 2025 Baldwin St., Jenison.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan or Answers in Genesis.
