Steven W. Vanderwood

Steven Wayne Vanderwood, age 58, of Wyoming, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Steve was an avid motorcycle rider, a wonderful cook, and a loving and devoted grandpa. His sense of humor and funny storytelling will be greatly missed. Steve was also the successful owner and operator of a small auto glass business in his community. He enjoyed antiquing, and he liked to think about fishing even though he rarely actually went fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Vanderwood; mother, “Georgia Belle” Lawton; son, Bryse Vanderwood; and sister, April Fay. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Shane Vanderwood and Gavin Vanderwood; daughter-in-law, Melissa Vanderwood; grandchildren, Tavin, Ava, and Grayson Vanderwood; siblings, Deb Huey, Carl Huey, and Cinthia Bush; best friends, Chris McFarlen and Darren DeBack; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Please meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Saturday if you wish to join in on the procession to the cemetery.
