Steven Paul Goss, age 65, of Kentwood, answered his final alarm on Monday, August 3, 2020, and was brought to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Goss; and his uncle, Robert Palmer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Angela with whom he shared 29 years; son, Robert and Jennifer Goss; grandchildren, Braydin and Devin Goss; parents-in-law, Cecil and Denise Lambers; sister-in-law, Erin and Chris Lewis; brother-in-law, Jeremy and Erin Lambers; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Greg, Ashley, Kayne, and Kyla; special cousins, Robert and David Peterson. Steve was a life-long member of the Wyoming Fire Department. When Steve was a young boy, he would run across DeHoop to watch the engines pull out of the station when there was a call; he would visit the guys at the station and help clean hoses. Firefighting was in Steve’s blood and he was proud to serve his community in the capacity of firefighter, equipment operator and then Lieutenant. He was quoted as saying, “This is the best job in the world, kid. Don’t ever take it for granted.” Steve was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved to dote over his grandsons. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor John Nauta officiating. The number of people allowed to attend the service will be limited however the service will be live streamed on the MKD website. Just go to the bottom of the MKD home page and click on the “watch recorded service here” tab. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Due to gathering restrictions the number of people allowed to enter the building at one time will be limited and face masks will be required. Memorial contributions may be made to Neighbors United.
